Ontario Health & Safety Worker Certificate

Required for every background performer in Ontario. Without your certificate you will not be able to work.

The requirement

As of July 1, 2014, every background performer working in Ontario must complete the Ontario Health and Safety awareness course and hold the resulting Worker Certificate.

Taking the course

  • The course takes approximately 45 minutes.
  • It cannot be saved partway through — set aside enough time to finish it in one sitting.
  • At the end you will be able to print your Worker Certificate.

After you finish

  1. Print two copies of your certificate.
  2. Provide one copy to Toronto Film Extras.
  3. Carry the other copy with you to every set, every time.

If you arrive on set without your certificate, you will not be able to work. Keep a photo of it on your phone as a backup, but always bring the printed copy.
