Fees & commission
The fees Toronto Film Extras charges its performers, and the commission owed on work booked through the agency.
Membership fee
$100 + HST ($113)
It is standard in the industry for Non-Union talent to pay a membership fee. This is a yearly, non-refundable fee, required at the time of registration and renewable on your membership anniversary date each year you continue to be an active member.
Union performers do not pay a membership fee.
BG4Hire fee
$45 per year
An active BG4Hire account is required to work with TFX. BG4Hire is a separate third-party online casting database and search tool used by casting directors and agencies — it is not Toronto Film Extras, and this fee is not paid to TFX. Sign up and select Toronto Film Extras as your agent.
Performer rate
$16.55 per hour
Eight hour minimum — if you only work 2 hours you are still paid for 8 hours — not including the unpaid lunch hour. Union rates apply for ACTRA members.
Rates are set by productions and industry agreements and can change. Confirm the rate for each booking with your agent.
Commission
What you pay on work booked through TFX
All commissions must include 13% HST. Commission includes but is not limited to payments received for COVID tests, mileage, travel, wardrobe and equipment, cars and pets.
Non-Union and AABP Performers
- Regular background work
- 10% + 13% HST
- Commercials, upgrades (SSE, Actor Roles, etc.), green permittee vouchers, music videos
- 15% + 13% HST
- 20% + 13% HST
ACTRA Apprentice Members
- Regular background performances, commercials, upgrades (SSE, Actor Roles, etc.), music videos
- 15% + 13% HST
- 20% + 13% HST
Full ACTRA Members
- Regular background performances
- 10% + 13% HST
- Commercials, upgrades (SSE, Actor Roles, etc.), music videos
- 15% + 13% HST

Booking policies
Cancellation, no-show and late fees
A booking includes any engagement such as COVID tests, fittings or work dates.
Booking cancellation fee
- $20.00 — Non-Union / AABP members
- $40.00 — ACTRA Apprentice members
- $30.00 — Full ACTRA members
If you're booked for a project and need to cancel, let your agent know as soon as possible. Cancelling a booking for any reason will result in a cancellation fee. A booking includes any engagement such as COVID tests, fittings or work dates. The fee is based on the minimum commission the client would have owed Toronto Film Extras, plus additional administrative costs.
No-show penalty
- $50.00
If you can't make it to your booking, let us know in advance. Failing to inform us and not showing up will result in a $50 No-Show Fee.
Late fee
- $20.00
Punctuality is crucial. If you are late to set and our team has to become involved in addressing the lateness (for example, we have to call and/or text you), you will be charged a $20.00 late fee.
Paying your commission
Commission payments can be made by Interac e-transfer to accounting@torontofilmextras.com.
In the e-transfer notes/comments box, please write your full name, the production title and the date you are sending the commission for.
If prompted for a password, please make all passwords either “tfx” or “tfxtfx”.
All performers need to email a copy of the Voucher AND the Time Report Summary (the top portion of their pay stub) with their commission payment to accounting@torontofilmextras.com. If you don't have your Time Report Summary and your cheque was issued by EP Canada, a copy can be found at my.ep.com.
