Become a Toronto Film Extras performer
TFX works with talent of all ages and is selectively expanding its roster. Here is exactly what we ask for and what happens next.
What to send us
To be considered for representation, complete our online application form and upload:
- Two to four recent photos of yourself — they do not need to be professional photos.
- Your height, and your chest, waist and hip measurements.
- Your name and the best telephone number to reach you on.
Toronto Film Extras works with talent of all ages. However, interested persons under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian reach out to us.
What happens next
Toronto Film Extras is selectively expanding its roster. Once we receive your submission we review our current roster and the needs of the productions we serve. If we would like to move forward, we will contact you and advise you of the next steps.
Health and safety certification
As of July 1, 2014, every background performer in Ontario must complete the Ontario Health and Safety course and hold a Worker Certificate. The course takes approximately 45 minutes and cannot be saved partway through, so set aside the time to finish it in one sitting.
Print two copies of your certificate: provide one to Toronto Film Extras and carry one with you to every set. Without your certificate you will not be able to work.

BG4Hire
An active BG4Hire account is essential in order to work with TFX. BG4Hire is a separate third-party online casting database used by casting directors and agencies; its annual fee of $45 per year is paid to BG4Hire, not to Toronto Film Extras. When you register, select Toronto Film Extras as your agent.
Membership and fees
It is standard in the industry for non-union talent to pay a membership fee. TFX charges $100 + HST ($113) yearly, non-refundable, due at the time of registration and renewable on your membership anniversary date. Union performers do not pay a membership fee. Commission applies to work you perform.
